This is an airplane that Brandon originally rebuilt back around 1996 from an oil soaked wreck. I don't recall where we picked it up at... Brandon repaired the wood damage, recovered it, and we hung it on the wall. Sometime around 2006, he got bit by the RC bug and decided to finish it, and learn to fly.
He's been bitten by the bug, and after getting on the club trainer a bit, he dug it out and started getting it ready.
Fitting up a HB .25 that we had just run on the bench...first time it's been fired up in at least 15 years!
Instaling a new Futaba 7CAP radio system.
Cutting in the opening for the rudder linkage, and completing the vertical stab installation.
The HB plumbed up with fuel and air filters.
Airscrew 9x4 is on it at the moment, but a 9x6 or 9x7 will probably be more appropriate.
We fabricated wooden dowel-type pushrods for the rudder and elevator.
Receiver battery and receiver installed, throttle and all other linkages are now finished.
Control horns installed on the rear surfaces...
7CAP programmed and ready to go...
...Brandon named it "UFO" back in the day, 'cause we never really new what the plane was (until later)
Radio switch and charge jack installed...
Here, you can see some of Brandon's 10-year old UFO artwork on the wing.
A few shots of it at the field, before final installations were completed...
The UFO up on the flight box, after a few initial flights on a windy day.
